In this mode, Atlas is no longer just a monument but a critical factor in the game’s survival. The expansion introduces a new “ticking clock” mechanic where Atlas bears the weight of the world—represented by a track that increases as new temples, monument parts, or monsters are added to the board.
Key features:
- The game no longer ends when monuments are fully built; instead, players must manage the ever-increasing weight on Atlas.
- If the weight track reaches 12, Atlas enters a crisis state, and players must work together to prevent total collapse by aiding him.
- Players can assign their heroes to the “Aid to Atlas” quest, sacrificing them for the rest of the game to increase the weight track and delay the end.
- If Atlas’s weight track reaches zero, the world crumbles, and all players lose.
The Atlas Overload expansion introduces cooperative elements alongside competitive gameplay, creating a high-stakes, time-sensitive challenge that shifts the dynamics of the game.
